Ep. 29 - Micah Bonn
Child violinist prodigy, exceptional entertainer, studied musical scholar, or creative camper songwriter…call her what you will, Micah Bonn is all that and more. Hailing from Claxton, Georgia, Miss Bonn has been influenced by everyone from Bach and Charlie Daniels to Jerry Lee Lewis and Gram Parsons. Despite her tender age of 21, she is the 2017 winner of the John Hartford Memorial Songwriting Contest, has shared the stage with the Kentucky Headhunters, opened for Connie Smith, and appeared on a slew of TV and radio shows around the south…and that’s only a few of the things she’s accomplished. This episode’s musical section features Micah doing “Pink Flamingos”, an autobiographical original cowrite with cohost Sean Clark, and a performance of “Little Love”, cowritten with Sean and Uncle Dave Griffin, both numbers showcasing her excellent vocals and picking style. The talented multi-instrumentalist takes us home with a fine Guy Clark/Shawn Camp song, “Sis Draper”, a period-sounding piece that’ll have you pickin’ the chicken peckin’s from between your toes.
